Welcome to Katabasis
Katabasis, from the Ancient Greek, a journey downward, a sinking or gradual descent in search of understanding, meaning, and significance.
A journey to the under and often other-world of the soul. Katabasis functions as a critical narrative tool by allowing the human to confront their fears and shadows and understand the meaning in suffering.
The word Katabasis comes from the Greek words "kata" meaning down and "baino" meaning go.

The LOTUS Flower as Metaphor:

The lotus flower grows to be beautiful out of muddy water. It is regarded in many cultures as a symbolism of enlightenment and rebirth. The lotus plant draws nourishment from the murky waters to present a beautiful flower. The potential of the bloom is hidden deep within the core of the plant well before its blooming and beauty.
This is such a strong image of what therapy and inner work can look like. From going in to the darkness and shadows we can find our deepest meanings.

There is the mud, and there is the lotus that grows out of the mud. We need the mud in order to make the lotus.” -Thich Nhat Hanh
